La République Dominicaine devrait battre tous ses records de fréquentation touristique en 2022, le pays surfant sur son excellente image de destination balnéaire et culturelle. Plus de 4,18 millions de touristes internationaux ont été accueillis entre janvier et juillet. Selon le ministre du Tourisme David Collado, le pays devrait briser le plafond des sept millions de touristes. 2022 serait alors “la meilleure année touristique de notre histoire”, a déclaré le ministre.
Le mois de juillet a d’ailleurs établi un nouveau record de fréquentation avec 735 064 visiteurs, soit une augmentation de 30% par rapport au même mois en 2021 et une hausse de 24% par rapport à juillet 2019, dernière année avant la crise du Covid.
Les principaux marchés qui envoient des touristes vers la République Dominicaine sont les Etats-Unis, le Canada, la Colombie, Porto-Rico, l’Espagne, Cuba et le Royaume-Uni. En 2019, les arrivées françaises avaient atteint 219 500, soit 4% de toutes les arrivées internationales dans le pays.

Dominican Republic on track to break all-time tourism record
The Dominican Republic is set to break all its tourism records in 2022, as the country benefits from an excellent image as a seaside and cultural holiday destination. More than 4.18 million international tourists were welcomed between January and July. According to Tourism Minister David Collado, the country is on track to break the seven million tourist ceiling. 2022 would then turn into “the best tourist year in our history”, said the minister.
In addition July set a new record for visitor numbers with 735,064, an increase of 30% compared to the same month in 2021 and 24% compared to July 2019, the last reference year before the Covid crisis.
The main inbound markets to the Dominican Republic are the United States, Canada, Colombia, Puerto Rico, Spain, Cuba and the United Kingdom. In 2019, French arrivals reached 219,500, or 4% of all international arrivals to the country.
